วัดกลางคลองข่อย ราชบุรีเป็นวัดเก่าแก่ที่มีอายุหลายร้อยปี บริเวณวัดกลางคลองข่อยนี้มีความเชื่อกันว่าสมเด็จพุฒาจารย์โตพรหมรังษีได้ธุดงค์มาเจริญวิปัสสนาในแถวบริเวณวัดและได้มาสร้างพระยืนปางอุ้มบาตรองค์ใหญ่ไว้ที่วัดแห่งนี้และยังมีความเชื่ออีกว่าได้สร้างพระพิมพ์สมเด็จที่มีพิมพ์ทรงและเนื้อหาคล้ายคลึงกับสมเด็จวัดระฆังมากๆไว้ที่วัดนี้อีกด้วย พระสมเด็จกรุวัดกลางคลองข่อยนั้น มีความเชื่อกันว่าสร้างและปลุกเสกโดยสมเด็จพุฒาจารย์โตพรหมรังสี มีการแตกกรุด้วยกันทั้งหมด 3 ครั้ง ครั้งแรกในปี 2490 ค้นพบพระบริเวณด้านหลังขององค์พระองค์ใหญ่ ครั้งที่ 2 ปี 2500 ค้นพบบริเวณโคนต้นโพธิ์ที่อยู่ข้างโบสถ์หลังเก่าและครั้งที่ 3 ปี 2516 ค้นพบภายในโบสถ์หลังเก่า ในปัจจุบันเริ่มนิยมเสาะหาสะสมกันมากและมีบรรจุอยู่ในรายการประกวดพระเครื่องทั้งในท้องที่และนอกพื้นที่หลายๆงานเลยที่เดียว ด้วยเนื้อหาขององค์พระที่เก่าแก่และประวัติที่เล่าสืบทอดกันมาค่อนข้างชัดเจน ทำให้ในอนาคตอันใกล้นี้พระสมเด็จกรุวัดกลางคลองข่อยคงจะมีราคาแพงตามสมเด็จวัดระฆัง สมเด็จบางขุนพรม และสมเด็จวัดเกษไชโยอย่างแน่นอน องค์ที่นำมาลงนี้เป็นพระที่แตกกรุในปี2500 บริเวณโค่นต้นโพธิ์ข้างโบสถ์หลังเก่า ซึ่งกล่าวกันว่าสมเด็จพุฒาจารโต ได้มานั่งเจริญวิปัสสนากรรมฐานบริเวณนี้ สมเด็จกรุวัดกลางคลองข่อยจัดว่าเป็นพระในตระกลูสมเด็จอีกหนึ่งกรุที่มีความเก่าแก่น่าใช้มากๆ
